Lilies exercise purchase option for defender
SV Darmstadt 98 has exercised its option to buy defender Grayson Dettoni.
The 20-year-old moved to Darmstadt on loan from FC Bayern Munich II last January and will now stay permanently with the Lilies.
Second division debut against Karlsruhe
Dettoni made his debut in the 2. Bundesliga at the beginning of May in the away game against Karlsruher SC. The defender also played in the subsequent game in Münster.
Sporting director Paul Fernie explains: “Grayson has integrated quickly into the team, shown a great willingness to learn and has already made visible progress in the past six months.”
Fernie further emphasizes: "In his appearances against KSC and in Münster, he has proven that he can compete at the second division level."
Dettoni is looking forward to the new season
Dettoni himself is also pleased about staying in Darmstadt.
“I am very grateful for the trust that the club has placed in me with this permanent commitment and happy to continue being a player for the Lilies,” the defender explained.
According to his own statement, he felt comfortable at SV 98 from the first day and learned a lot in recent months.
Thanks to FC Bayern
SV Darmstadt 98 also thanked FC Bayern Munich for their cooperation during the loan.
With this permanent signing, the club continues to focus on young, developing players and those with potential.
