Together for a sustainable and livable city
With these words, Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau turns to the residents of Groß-Gerau:
Dear Groß-Gerau citizens,
A year full of events, challenges and valuable encounters is behind us. A good nine months ago I took over the office of mayor to make Groß-Gerau to be livable and future-proof together with you. I was deeply impressed by the cohesion and the great commitment of many citizens. Your commitment - be it in volunteering, neighborhood help or through constructive ideas - is an indispensable contribution to our city. I would like to thank you for that.
Like many municipalities in Germany, we also face major financial challenges. Rising costs for energy, services and wages as well as new legal requirements put a significant impact on our household - often without sufficient support from the federal government and the federal states.
Despite these difficult framework conditions, I am convinced that we can find solutions together. Together with politics and administration, I am working on developing a sustainable strategy for Groß-Gerau. However, we have to prepare for the fact that some familiar municipal services cannot be preserved as to the extent to date.
This is precisely why cohesion and solidarity are crucial to overcome these challenges. It takes courage to look into a sustainable future and the
to address necessary changes. There cannot be a "keep it up" - but together we create change.
Let us show those of the red card that only criticize or have a bad talk and thus behave disrespectfully towards other people. These people do not contribute to an improvement, but ensure the opposite with their destructive behavior.
It is particularly important to me to appreciate those who are committed to our community. Voluntary work in clubs, social projects or neighborhood aid is an indispensable pillar in our city. Your use shows what we can achieve together.
Constructive criticism and new ideas are also valuable. With a respectful coexistence, we can not only master challenges, but also use new opportunities. Let us focus on how we can advance Groß-Gerau together.
My goal for the coming year is clear: With all my strength, I will work to make our city sustainable, livable and future -proof - even in challenging times. For me, the focus is on one thing: to preserve and strengthen democracy. Democracy lives from participating, dialogue and respectful coexistence. It is not a matter of course, but an achievement that deserves our special attention. Let us go this way together and actively shape and protect the values of our democracy.
With these thoughts I wish you a happy new year and for 2025 what is really important: satisfaction, happiness and above all health.
