Reopening on May 21st with extended opening hours
The Griesheim city library will reopen its doors on Thursday, May 21, 2026, following extensive work on the flat roof of the Georg-August-Zinn-Haus.
In the coming days, the library team will prepare the rooms for visitors and put books, Tonies and other media back in their usual places.
Goodwill policy for returns until the end of June
Due to the automatic renewal of many loan periods, numerous return deadlines fall on the day of reopening. To stagger returns, a special grace period will be in effect until June 30, 2026. Reminders will be sent, but no late fees will be charged.
Library director Heike Erb-Schyguda requests that returns be spread out over several weeks if possible. She also points out that there may be waiting times in the first few days.
Extended opening hours for the restart
The following additional opening hours apply until the end of May:
- Thursday, May 21: 2 pm to 7 pm
- Tuesday, May 26: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
- Wednesday, May 27: 2 pm to 7 pm
- Thursday, May 28: 2 pm to 7 pm
The city library will resume its regular opening hours from June 1st.
