City invites to the Riedhalle on 20 October for a dialogue on quality of life and mobility
How do we want to live, shop, and socialize in our city in the future? This central question is the focus of the final forum on the street furniture project on Darmstädter Straße , which will take place on October 20, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Riedhalle (Am Sportfeld 1) . Citizens are invited to discuss the results of the pilot project and the future development of the city center. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
Urban furniture tested: 1,400 citizens participated
As part of the "transform-R" , the city of Groß-Gerau has been testing new street furniture over the past few months to improve the quality of life in the city center . The trial was accompanied by participation campaigns and traffic surveys , in which more than 1,400 people participated. The results are now being presented and evaluated together with the residents.
Exchange on future issues in the city center
After a welcome address by Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau , the results of the participation formats will be presented. Participants will then be invited to contribute to three theme islands – on the following topics:
- Quality of stay,
- fair mobility for all and
- generation-appropriate urban design.
In addition to representatives from various municipal departments , experts from Goethe University Frankfurt and the Dortmund Planning Society , who provided scientific support for the project, are also on site. The goal is to gather ideas and perspectives on how to make Groß-Gerau's city center vibrant, safe, and sustainable .
