Guided tour reveals hidden treasures of the natural history collection
The Hessian State Museum Darmstadt offers a rare glimpse into areas of the museum not normally open to the public with the guided tour "The Hidden Treasures of Natural History" on Wednesday, August 26th . It starts at 6 pm .
Participants will gain access to the collection area of the Natural History Department and learn how scientific collections are established, documented, preserved, and managed. Experts will also explain the significance of these holdings for research, education, and the preservation of natural heritage.
In addition to information on modern collection management, rare, unusual, and delicate exhibits that are normally hidden from the public are presented. The tour thus offers a glimpse behind the scenes of museum work.
The event will be accompanied by Prof. Dr. Torsten Wappler and Dr. Dominik Hennhöfer, who will guide visitors through the natural history collections and explain the scientific work of the museum.
Participation costs €8, or €5, plus a €4 guided tour fee. The number of participants is limited to 25. Tickets are available at the museum ticket office on the day of the event and in advance from the museum's online shop.
