The events focus on concrete measures for heavy rain preparedness , for example in private residential areas. At four themed tables, visitors can learn about personal preparedness , municipal measures , early warning systems , and crisis management cisterns, green roofs, de-sealing of surfaces , and natural gardens also be presented.
Climate officer Michael Kolmer emphasizes:
“Climate change is increasingly bringing with it extreme weather events. To minimize the dangers for the population, we must act together – the city, businesses and civil society.”
In addition to protection against flooding, many of the recommended measures offer further benefits, such as promoting biodiversity , cooling the residential environment , and financial savings, for example through reduced stormwater fees.
