Odenwald entrepreneurs follows Matthias Martiné - focus on reducing bureaucracy and economic freedom
The general assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Darmstadt Rhein Main Neckar unanimously elected Christian Jöst on Tuesday evening (June 17 ) . The managing director of Jöst Abrasives GmbH from Wald-Michelbach in the district of Bergstraße follows Matthias Martiné , who is leaving after over 16 years of IHK engagement.
Jöst has been a member of the Presidium since 2019 and is now the highest volunteering of the IHK Darmstadt. In his inaugural speech, the entrepreneur called for an economic re-establishment and complained of the increasing regulatory density: "We again need a free social market economy-free of regulatory rage and a prescription small."
Commitment to entrepreneurial freedom
Jöst emphasized that bureaucracy and over -regulation would increasingly become a growth brake. Innovative services are not created by laws, but by a powerful, creative middle class. With regard to the future, the new president was confident: "In dialogue, we create the U -turn - so that the desire at the location of Germany, especially in southern Hesse, is growing again."
As an entrepreneur with a strong regional rooting, Christian Jöst is also volunteering : on the board of the Strahlemann Foundation , in the magazine "My Odenwald" , as a holder of a small alpaca herd -and the only entrepreneur in the Federal Government's Sustainable Finance Advisory Board .

Christian Jöst takes over the office of Matthias Martiné , spokesman for the Volksbank Darmstadt Mainz, who worked as an IHK president for over six years During this time, he was dealing with far-reaching crises-from corona pandemic to energy bottlenecks to the recession as a result of geopolitical developments.
Martiné significantly shaped the strategic direction of the chamber. The focus was on transformation, securing skilled workers, future of the city centers , the integration of sustainable financing models and the expansion of business -related networks. Under his leadership, the Hub31 start -up center strengthened, in which the TU Darmstadt and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences are now participating as shareholders.
The IHK General Assembly said goodbye to its long-time president-and welcomed Christian Jöst to a successor with Christian Jöst who would like to set clear impulses for the region's economy .
