Children with disabilities can learn to swim starting in August
From mid-August, the city of Darmstadt will once again offer inclusive swimming lessons for children with disabilities at the Nordbad swimming pool. The courses are aimed at children aged six and up and are designed to enable them to learn basic swimming skills in a safe and supportive environment.
This program is offered as part of the ViiAS project of the City of Darmstadt in cooperation with the swimming school "Alle Lagen". In addition to safe handling of water, the focus is also on the joy of movement.
“Being able to swim means safety, independence and participation. With this program, we want to give children with disabilities the opportunity to learn this important skill in a supportive environment,” explains Mayor Hanno Benz.
The inclusive courses are specifically tailored to the needs of the participating children. The aim is to break down barriers and give all children the opportunity to have positive experiences in the water.
Interested families can now add their names to the waiting list. The contact person is Kristin Lotz, Coordinator for Sport, Inclusion and Integration for the City of Darmstadt. She can be reached by phone at +49 6151 13-2976 and by email at kristin.lotz@darmstadt.de .
