Young talents show their skills - whether Benz opens the event
An evening full of swing, groove and musical diversity awaits the audience at the jazz concert Darmstadt school bands on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the Centralstation Darmstadt . Four secondary schools in the city-the Justus Liebig School, the Ludwig Georgs-Gymnasium, the Viktoria School and the Edith Stein School-present their talented jazz formations. The start is at 7.30 p.m. , admission from 6.30 p.m. Admission is free.
The event is opened by Mayor Hanno Benz . Each school band has about 20 minutes to inspire the audience with their own style and repertoire. The concert is under the direction of renowned Darmstadt music educators, who significantly shape jazz training at their schools:
- Christoph Schöpsdau (Justus-Liebig School): Pianist, composer and winner of the HR Bigband competition.
- Uli Partil (Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium): Darmstadt jazz laureate and lecturer of the jazz conceptions.
- Eduard Kraft (Viktoria School): Committed musician and sponsor of musical young talents.
- Oliver Nickel (Edith-Stein School): Conductor with an international reputation in the field of wind orchestra.
With a varied program and passionate stage presence, the concert offers an exciting insight into the lively jazz youth scene of Darmstadt .
