The festival will take place on Friday, August 21, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Herrngarten park and on Schlossgartenstraße, which will be closed to traffic for the event.
Plans include games and activities for children, as well as opportunities for families to meet and connect. Ice cream, drinks, and other food options will also be available.
Panel discusses diversity of carriers
A key focus of the daycare family festival in Darmstadt is the public panel discussion "What is the value of diverse providers?", which begins at 4 p.m. Representatives from politics, academia, administration, and practice will discuss the significance of a diverse daycare landscape for Darmstadt.
According to the organizers, the diversity of providers enables different educational approaches and supports families' right to choose their preferred childcare provider. At the same time, the discussion aims to shed light on the role different providers play in the city's community.
The panel includes Barbara Akdeniz from the Darmstadt Social Services Department, Christina Brahm (SPD), Eva Bredow-Cordier (Alliance 90/The Greens), Julia Wandrey (CDU), Michael Vilain (EHH), Paul Brunke (DaS KinD), and Erik Sparn-Wolf from the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband (Parity Welfare Association). Johannes Paetzel will moderate.
