Klaus Philipp presents “Reflections on Water and Light” from May 29, 2026
From May 29 to August 28, 2026, Darmstadt photographer Klaus Philipp will present a series of twelve large-format photographs entitled "Reflections on Water and Light" at St. Ludwig's Church on Wilhelminenplatz. The exhibition opens on Friday, May 29, at 6 p.m.
The interplay of light and water is central to the work. The photographs depict fleeting phenomena on moving water surfaces, where light, color, and form are constantly changing. Reflections of sky, landscape, and objects overlap, creating abstract compositions.
Klaus Philipp understands his work as an exploration of a fundamental phenomenon: light as a central element of photography and as a culturally and religiously charged theme. His images capture fleeting moments. Longer exposure times create light trails and structures that make movement visible.
The exhibition also addresses an annual theme of the Catholic parishes in Darmstadt, which deals with the motif of light. The artistic perspective is complemented by references to nature, perception, and the role of water and light in mythology and history.
The opening remarks will be given by Pastor Dr. Waclawiak of the Liebfrauen parish. The event will be accompanied musically by Jorin Sandau on the newly installed organ.
