Young people from France and Seeheim-Jugenheim are visiting
The student exchange between the Bergstraße school village in Seeheim-Jugenheim and the partner school from Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu made the European idea tangible again in 2026.
Exchange with a diverse program
From April 27th to May 5th, the French students were guests in the region. A total of 15 German and 17 French students participated in the exchange, accompanied by teachers from both schools.
The program included school visits, joint leisure activities, and excursions. The aim was to promote intercultural exchange and facilitate encounters within a European context.
Reception at Bickenbach Town Hall
A special highlight of the program was the reception at Bickenbach Town Hall by Mayor Markus Hennemann. There, the young people gained insights into the history and development of the municipality.
As a sign of hospitality, the French guests were also presented with a gift from a regional company.
Experiencing language and culture in everyday life
The supervising teacher of the school village emphasized that the exchange allows the young people to use the French language in authentic situations while also getting to know the culture of the neighboring country.
Contribution to Europe and understanding
The exchange once again demonstrated the importance of personal encounters for the integration of Europe. Young people gain experience across linguistic and national borders, strengthening mutual understanding, tolerance, and democratic values.
