The activity booklet strengthens the media literacy of primary school children in Darmstadt
The House of Digital Media Education in Darmstadt has published an updated third edition of its popular "Media Check." Initially conceived as a supplementary resource during the pandemic, the interactive booklet has now become an integral part of media education for third and fourth grade children in Darmstadt.
The media check also forms the basis for an interactive workshop day at primary schools, which can be carried out free of charge by the team of the House of Digital Media Education upon request.
This activity booklet teaches children how to use digital media responsibly in a playful and age-appropriate way. Quizzes, puzzles, and creative tasks provide opportunities for conversation with parents and educators and help children reflect on their own media use.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes the importance of the program: "There is rightly much discussion about how we guide our children in the digital world. Therefore, it is very valuable that we in the science city of Darmstadt have solidified our good cooperation with the Institute for Media Education and Communication by establishing the House of Digital Media Education."
The House of Digital Media Education is a collaboration between the City of Science Darmstadt and MuK Hessen eV.
