Confidential acute care without reporting – this service is being used increasingly
As the Groß-Gerau district reports, a large-scale poster campaign for the pilot project "Immediate Medical Assistance after Rape" was present in all municipalities of the district throughout November . The aim is to raise public awareness of the confidential support service and to provide victims with low-threshold access to medical care.
Confidential help without being reported
The pilot project has been running since December 2021 and is being implemented by the Office for Women and Equal Opportunities of the district administration together with the GPR Clinic Rüsselsheim . Victims of sexual violence can receive medical care there and have evidence secured in a way that will stand up in court – without filing a police report and without health insurance coverage.
The decision to file a complaint later remains entirely with the person affected. Additionally, confidential counseling is available through Frauen helfen Frauen eV Groß-Gerau (Women Helping Women Association Groß-Gerau) .
Closing the supply gap – reducing the number of unreported cases
According to the district, many victims currently forgo a medical examination because they fear being reported against their will. This pilot project aims to close precisely this gap in care and help make the high number of unreported cases of sexual violence visible.
Demand is increasing: More and more people in the district are using the service.
Campaign visible throughout the entire district
In November, the project was extensively promoted – with the support of the Hessian Ministry for Labor, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs – on large-format posters in all municipalities. Additionally, sports clubs, sports facilities, swimming pools, and fitness studios were provided with informational materials. This is intended to ensure that as many people as possible learn about the confidential emergency assistance.
