165 school backpacks will be distributed to needy families in Darmstadt
With the start of the summer holidays, the schoolbag campaign is starting again at the ecumenical church shop Kirche & Co. From Monday, July 27th , families in need can receive well-preserved schoolbags and basic supplies for their future first-graders free of charge.
In recent weeks, 165 school backpacks donated by the public. Supplemented by monetary donations and funding from the Liridadi Foundation of Diakonie Hessen, the volunteers from Kirche & Co. were able to assemble complete basic school sets.

Distribution will take place until Friday, August 7th, at the church shop Kirche & Co., An der Stadtkirche 1 in Darmstadt. Eligible families must present appropriate proof, such as a confirmation from the job center, a citizen's benefit notice, or a certificate from the kindergarten.
Registration is not required.
Distribution times
- Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Tuesday additionally: until 5 p.m.
The campaign aims to make it easier for low-income families to start their first year of school and at the same time to give well-preserved school bags a meaningful second life.
