The initiative “#NoPlaceForHate” focuses on education, democracy and civic courage
With the new campaign "#NoPlaceForHate," the district of Groß-Gerau and the city of Rüsselsheim am Main are sending a joint message against extremist symbolism and in support of a strong democracy. The district-wide campaign is being initiated by the two DEXT specialist agencies for democracy promotion and cross-phenomenon extremism prevention. The goal is to raise awareness of extremist symbols, codes, and manifestations and to empower people to navigate them safely.
The campaign's background is the significant increase in right-wing extremist stickers, graffiti, and slogans in public spaces since 2024, according to the initiators. The focus is therefore on raising awareness about right-wing extremism. At the same time, other forms of extremism, as well as topics such as promoting democracy and civic courage, are also addressed.
“With this campaign, we are sending a clear message: In Rüsselsheim am Main and throughout the Groß-Gerau district, there is no place for hatred, exclusion and extremist ideologies,” emphasize Mayor Patrick Burghardt and District Administrator Thomas Will.
The campaign, initially planned for one year, is aimed particularly at schools, associations, educational professionals, civil society initiatives, and the general public. Planned activities include events on socio-political topics, monthly posts on social media, interactive educational offerings such as a digital rally, activity kits, and a creative competition followed by a traveling exhibition.
A key objective of the initiative is to encourage as many people as possible to participate. Associations, institutions, initiatives, and committed individuals are invited to develop their own activities and participate using the hashtag #NoPlaceForHate . Further information, materials, and event dates will be continuously published on the campaign website.
