Why civil resistance works - the strategic logic of non -violent conflict management
Lecture and discussion with Stefan Maaß
Unpigained movements were more successful than violent seeds - this shows studies by Erica Chenoweth and Maria J. Stephan, which show that violent resistance between 1990 and 2006 was twice as successful as armed arguments.
Stefan Maaß , Peace representative of the Evangelical Church in Baden, presents central knowledge from the study published in German "Why civil resistance works" and discusses which teachings can be drawn for politics, church and civil society.
Background: Darmstadt Peace Alliance
The Peace Alliance is an association of unions, churches, parties, associations and committed private individuals. It sees itself as a platform for peace -political educational work and controversy, but respectful exchange. The agricultural war against Ukraine is condemned by the alliance as violating international law - at the same time a critical reflection of Western military strategies is stimulated.
