Three days of music, theatre, cabaret and family program at Dornberg Castle
Final preparations are underway: The "Volk im Schloss" cultural festival will once again take place in the castle park of Dornberg Castle in Groß-Gerau from August 21st to 23rd, 2026. The organizers have now released the schedule. Visitors can expect a diverse program over three days, including live music, theater, cabaret, street theater, and activities for families. Admission is free on all days of the festival.
Opening with beer tapping and Robbie Williams tribute
The festival opens on Friday, August 21st, with the traditional tapping of the first keg by District Administrator Thomas Will and Groß-Gerau's Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau. Following this, acts including The Whitebinders, the BüchnerBühne Riedstadt, the award-winning tribute band The Robbie Experience , and the Belgian electro-live band NAFT will perform.
Saturday with cabaret, rock and street theatre
Saturday begins in the afternoon with the inclusive music project "Wir sind wer" (We are somebody) and the children's participatory concert by herrH. The Portuguese street theatre group Teatro Só returns.
Other highlights include the traditional cabaret conference with Thomas Freitag, Fee Badenius , and Meigl Hoffmann, concerts by Young Rebel Set and Revolte Tanzbein , and an aerial hoop performance by Jana Vogel. The second day of the festival concludes with a performance by the British cult band New Model Army.
Family Day on Sunday
Sunday begins with the Stockstadt marching band. This is followed by performances from Stage Factory Groß-Gerau, the dinosaur rock band Heavysaurus, Teatro Só , and finally, the local rock band PFUND the festival.
In addition, cabaret artist Christian Döring entertainment with his program "Schloss mit lustig!" (Castle with fun!).
Many activities for children
On both festival days this weekend, there will be a comprehensive children's program with supervised activities, games, face painting, and balloon art. Organizers recommend arriving by bicycle or public transport. Parking is available at the administrative center on Europaring.
