Explosive ordnance disposal service examines suspicious object on Eberstädter Weg – police warn against touching possible ordnance
A suspicious metal object triggered a bomb disposal operation on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, on Eberstädter Weg in Darmstadt. A witness discovered the object around 4:15 p.m. in a parking area and notified the police.
The experts from the bomb disposal service who were called in examined the find and determined that it was an empty phosphorus grenade.
After inspection, the grenade could be safely removed. A controlled detonation on site was not necessary.
Police warn against handling munitions
In light of the discovery, the police remind the public that suspicious objects, which could be grenades or other weapons, must not be touched or moved under any circumstances.

Anyone who discovers such an object should leave it where it was found and immediately notify the police.
