Kathryn Claire and Margot Merah combine traditional influences with their own songs and multi-part folk music
The folk duo Two Drifters, featuring Kathryn Claire from Portland and Margot Merah from Amsterdam, will perform at the Kulturbahnhof Weiterstadt on Friday, October 23, 2026. The two musicians have a musical partnership that began in 2013 in a small music café in Amsterdam.
A spontaneous encounter blossomed into a long-term partnership that blends musical traditions from diverse regions. Their album, "Come Close, Come In," combines original songs with traditional folk influences. The focus is on their two voices, which combine to create a harmonious yet personal sound.
Between violin, guitar and bodhrán
Kathryn Claire contributes her violin playing, rooted in classical and traditional music, as well as her own poetic lyrics. Margot Merah complements the pieces with rhythmic guitar work and her narrative approach.
Besides fiddle and guitar, instruments such as ukulele and bodhrán are used. The two multi-instrumentalists rely on a minimalist and closely coordinated musical style.
Two Drifters have already toured the USA, Europe, and Japan. Their music blends diverse musical traditions and personal influences across continents.
