Leo Clubs are the independent youth organizations of Lions Clubs. Active worldwide, there are over 200 clubs in Germany alone, with around 3,000 members. Young adults between the ages of 16 and 31 volunteer their time to support people in need – from children and the homeless to disaster victims.
On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the Leo Club Darmstadt "Ludovicus," in cooperation with the Lions Clubs "Castrum" and "Louise Büchner," will host its first charity tennis tournament . The tournament will be held at the Darmstadt TSG 1846 eV sports club. This event replaces the two Lions Clubs' previous annual charity golf tournament.
Up to 80 participants are expected, competing in randomly drawn doubles teams. The sporting event will be complemented by an evening event at the club restaurant "EnWoog." This will include a buffet on the terrace, the awards ceremony, and an after-party with DJs from the Label.31 . Guests not participating in the tournament are also welcome.
The proceeds from entry fees, raffle tickets, and cocktail sales at the after-party will benefit the association "Aus der Not Darmstadt eV" (Darmstadt Out of Need). This young association supports people in difficult circumstances with unbureaucratic assistance – from delivering supplies in the city center and advising on bureaucratic procedures to helping them find housing. Despite its short history, "Aus der Not Darmstadt eV" has already been able to permanently remove several people from the streets – in some cases through the personal commitment of the founders' own funds.
