Volunteers will help repair and rescue food on May 30th
The Weiterstadt Volunteer Agency's Repair Café will take place again at the community center in Weiterstadt on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Under the motto "Repair instead of throwing away," volunteer helpers will assist visitors in making broken everyday items usable again.
Help with bicycles, electrical appliances and clothing
Various repair stations will be available between 2 pm and 5 pm. Services offered include repairs to bicycles and walkers, small electrical and mechanical appliances, wooden toys, jewelry, and clothing. Scissors can also be sharpened.
The repairs are free of charge – apart from any necessary replacement parts. Donations to support this service are welcome.
Food savers distribute rescued food
Additionally, the Weiterstadt Foodsaver Association is participating in the event. The initiative distributes free food that was previously rescued from being thrown away by supermarkets.
Besides repairs and food rescue, the Repair Café also aims to provide a space for social interaction. Visitors can chat with each other over coffee, tea, and cake.
Date and location
The Repair Café will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 2 pm to 5 pm in the Bürgerzentrum Weiterstadt at Carl-Ulrich-Straße 9–13.
