Young people from Seeheim-Jugenheim and Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu meet
This year's student exchange between the Bergstraße school village and the partner school from Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu has once again brought the European idea to life.
From April 27th to May 5th, the French students were guests in the region and, together with their exchange partners, got to know everyday life on site.
A total of 15 German and 17 French teenagers participated in the exchange.
Joint program with school and leisure activities
The focus was on a diverse program with insights into school life, joint leisure activities and excursions.
The aim of the exchange was to promote intercultural dialogue and to make Europe tangible in everyday life.
A special highlight of the program was the reception at the Bickenbach town hall by Mayor Markus Hennemann.
The young people gained insights into the history and development of the community.
Experience language and culture firsthand
The supervising teacher, Pons Seinsche, emphasized the importance of the exchange.
“For our students, the exchange program with France is a very valuable experience that allows them to immerse themselves in French culture and to use the language they learn in class in authentic situations,” she explained.
Contribution to tolerance and European cohesion
Mayor Hennemann also emphasized the importance of such encounters for young people.
The exchange shows how important personal contacts are for mutual understanding, democracy and European cohesion.
