New online reporting portal makes it easier to report illegally parked cars and blocked traffic routes
Blocked fire lanes, obstructed bike paths, or vehicles parked in no-stopping zones can now be reported online in Nauheim. The municipality has set up a digital reporting portal through which residents can submit information about traffic violations directly to the public order office. The service is available regardless of the administration's opening hours and is intended to simplify the processing of such reports.
With this new service, the municipality aims to improve road safety and simultaneously relieve the burden on the public order office. Reports can be submitted online from home or on the go.
Report illegally parked vehicles and other traffic violations
The online portal is aimed at citizens who observe traffic violations in public spaces.
This includes, in particular, vehicles that block fire lanes, are parked in cycle paths, or are parked in no-stopping zones. Such violations can not only disrupt the flow of traffic but also endanger the safety of other road users.
Mayor Marc Friedrich sees the new offer as an opportunity to involve the population more.
“Many citizens regularly contact me about illegally parked vehicles or other obstructions in public traffic areas,” explains Friedrich. The digital reporting portal now provides a simple and direct way to forward such information to the administration.
At the same time, the offer is intended to help alleviate the staffing shortage in the public order office.
Information will be forwarded directly to the public order office
The portal enables the structured recording of reported traffic violations. The information is forwarded directly to the responsible regulatory authority and can be processed there.
“With the new advertising portal, we are creating an uncomplicated digital way to send information directly to the right place,” explains Lea Seibert, Head of Citizen Services and Public Order at the municipality of Nauheim.
The standardized recording of reports is intended to make administrative processes more efficient and processing easier.
Whistleblowers may be needed as witnesses
Anyone reporting a traffic violation via the portal must observe certain legal specifics.
After the report has been received by the public order office, a PDF file containing a summary of their information is available for download to the informants.
No feedback on the further processing status will be provided. For data protection reasons, the public order office does not provide any information on the status of reported violations.
Furthermore, the municipality points out that whistleblowers are obligated to provide truthful information. They may be called upon as witnesses in subsequent proceedings and may even be required to testify in court.
The online portal can be accessed via the municipality's website
The new service is now available on the website of the municipality of Nauheim.
On the homepage, the "Report a traffic violation" button leads directly to the digital reporting portal. Alternatively, the service can be accessed via the "Online Services / Municipality of Nauheim" section.
