Eligible voters aged 60 and over can cast their votes until November 6th – the election will take place exclusively by postal vote
The election for the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council in Griesheim begins on Friday, October 9, 2026. Eligible voters can decide on the composition of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council for the next four years until November 6. The election will be conducted exclusively by mail. A total of up to 15 members can be elected to the council.
Who is eligible to participate in the election of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council?
All residents who are at least 60 years old on the last election day, November 6, 2026, and have had their main residence in Griesheim for at least six weeks are eligible to vote.
Those who meet these requirements will be automatically added to the electoral register. The deadline for registration was September 29, 2026. Election notices will be sent to eligible voters in due course.
Postal voting documents can be requested by mail with the voter notification, online, or directly at the town hall. Alternatively, it is possible to cast your vote in person at the town hall.
In the election for the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council, each eligible voter has a maximum of 15 votes. However, only one vote may be cast for each candidate. The election is decided by a simple majority vote.
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Board represents the interests of older people
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council advocates for the interests of residents aged 60 and over. It advises the city's political bodies on matters affecting older people and can submit statements, proposals, motions, and inquiries to the committees and the city council.
Furthermore, the advisory board promotes exchange between generations and collaborates with various institutions and organizations that deal with the interests of older people.
The committee consists of a maximum of 15 members. These members elect an executive board from among themselves, comprising a chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary, and a person responsible for public relations.
Stefanie Ondruch, senior citizens' representative of the city of Griesheim, calls for participation: "The city of Griesheim is pleased about the high level of participation in the senior citizens' advisory council election and cordially invites all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and thus help shape the work of the senior citizens' advisory council for the coming years."
