From marathon to triathlon - like a passion was created
In the interview series of the SG Arheilgen Triathlon department, we present athletes and report on their sporting careers, challenges and goals. This time SGA press officer Kathrin Ortland spoke to Claudia Jehn.
"I could never have imagined it before - now it's so much fun!"
Kathrin Ortland: Claudia, since when have you been a member of the department?
Claudia Jehn: Oh, I don't know exactly, but I think since 2018.
Ortland: How did you get to the triathlon?
Jehn: A friend kept persuading me to get to swim. I was never a big fan of swimming, but at some point I just tried it. It was hard at the beginning, but the group was super patient and motivating. Of course, I also noticed when the others made an appointment for cycling - and at some point I wanted to be there. So I bought a racing bike. Then it was only a matter of time before I made my first triathlon. I could never have imagined it before, but now I have a lot of fun!
From the long distance to all -around
Ortland: What did you do for sports before the triathlon?
Jehn: I was part of the SGA marathon project and regularly ran marathons.
Ortland: Triathlon training takes a lot of time. How do you get that under one hat with your job?
Jehn: I only do triathlon out of fun and it does not require more time than marathon training. So that fits well. There are enough training times in the evening.
Ortland: May I ask how old you are?
Jehn: I'm 53.
New sporting goals for 2025
Ortland: What are your next sporting goals?
Jehn: First and foremost, I would like to stay injury -free, so I set myself small goals. I want to improve my time at Heinerman start again at .
Ortland: Thank you for the conversation, Claudia! I wish you every success and above all an injury -free season!
