Over 40 clubs invite you to participate in the Herrngarten on June 29th
On Sunday, June 29, 2025, the Herrngarten park will once again be transformed into a large activity arena: From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the 47th Sports & Games Festival take place – organized by the Sports Office of the City of Darmstadt, the Darmstadt-Dieburg Sports Association, and with Merck as the main sponsor. Over 40 clubs and institutions will offer a diverse program of activities for people of all ages – free of charge and inclusive .
The official welcome by Mayor Hanno Benz , Sports Association Chairman Rafael Reißer and Maxi Nieber (Merck) will take place at 1 p.m. on the stage in the Herrngarten.
“This festival stands for openness, diversity, and community,” emphasizes Mayor Benz. “Sport unites – regardless of origin, age, or experience. My thanks go to all those involved who make this festival possible.” Rafael Reißer adds: “The Sports & Games Festival has been an integral part of Darmstadt as a sporting city for 47 years – a showcase for the breadth and quality of our club scene.”
Diverse program – from fencing to Quidditch
From fencing, baseball, karate and cycle ball to pickleball, roundnet and quidditch – the festival offers numerous sports to try out. Children, teenagers and adults can try their hand at self-defense, table tennis, athletics and many other disciplines.
Activities that promote inclusive movement include a wheelchair obstacle course , showdown table tennis for the visually impaired, and a summer biathlon with laser rifles , which is also suitable for wheelchair users.
Water slide, sensory garden and family program
A highlight for 2025 is the XXL water slide from Merck , promising a refreshing splash. The " Empowering Children " initiative will also be present, offering activities focused on self-confidence and teamwork. The family center and youth welfare office will jointly design the popular sensory garden .
The day will be rounded off with a varied stage program featuring dance and sports performances by local groups, as well as activities for families, including a bouncy castle, craft area, can throwing, children's circus , and much more. Free refreshments will be available at the Entega water fountain in the Herrngarten.
