23 hiking enthusiasts each cover eight kilometers during the star hike
During a star hike organized by the Groß-Gerau branch of the Odenwald Club, 23 hiking enthusiasts from various directions set off for Trebur. Their common destination was the Trebur apple orchard, where the groups met for a convivial gathering after their hike. The return journey then led back in the dark, using flashlights.
Despite the bright sunshine in the late afternoon, the groups set off on their hikes, each approximately eight kilometers long. The participants from Nauheim hiked through the Seichböhl area, sometimes on lesser-known paths. A water fountain provided an unexpected refreshment along the way. Via the Eseldamm (Donkey Dam) and the Lutherweg (Luther Trail), the group finally reached the Trewwerer Äpplergarten (Trewwer Apple Orchard).
The group from Groß-Gerau took their route along the Mühlbach stream and past the sugar beet ponds to Oberach. The participants from Trebur also set off by bicycle via Oberach to reach the meeting point.
Back into the night with flashlights
After their stop for refreshments, the sun had set. The three groups therefore returned home using flashlights, taking different routes. Along the way, the group from Groß-Gerau were able to observe airplane lights, occasional meteors in the night sky, and the lights of the wind turbines on the opposite bank of the Rhine.
A total of 23 hiking enthusiasts participated in the star and night hike, each covering approximately eight kilometers. The hike was led by Reiner Dietz, Siegrid and Richard Engel, Heinz Pitzer, and Rosel Wolk.
