Six athletes from Darmstadt-Eberstadt win 14 medals at the World Championships
With three world championship titles, four silver medals, and seven bronze medals, the SAN-TI martial arts school from Darmstadt-Eberstadt has returned from the WKU World Championships in Berlin. Six athletes from the school competed in the disciplines of point fighting, karate kumite, and traditional karate kata from August 3rd to 9th, 2026, and together won 14 medals.
According to SAN-TI, more than 1,900 entries were recorded at the World Championships. The World Kickboxing and Karate Union (WKU) is represented in approximately 90 countries. The relatively small Darmstadt team was particularly successful in Karate Kumite: all three world championship titles in this discipline went to Eberstadt.
Vincent Unger wins gold and two silver medals
Vincent Unger won the world championship title in karate kumite in the over 45 kg weight class for eight- to ten-year-olds. He also reached two other world championship finals, securing silver medals in point fighting over 45 kg and in karate kumite up to 45 kg.
In Traditional Karate Kata, Unger achieved eighth place with 29.82 points.
Noah Pullmann also returned from Berlin as a world champion. In the children's category (ages 11-12), he won both of his karate kumite matches in the under 40 kg category, securing gold. In point fighting (under 40 kg), he achieved three victories on his way to the final, where he ultimately won silver.
Pullmann also won bronze in karate kumite up to 45 kilograms and silver with the German team.
Jernellio Inglese becomes world champion
Jernellio Inglese won SAN-TI's third world championship title. He triumphed in the karate kumite competition for 13- to 14-year-olds in the under 55 kg category. He also won bronze in point fighting in the under 55 kg category. Another bronze medal was added in the team competition.
In the Traditional Karate Kata, Inglese finished in seventh place with 29.82 points.
Historic Kata Medal for SAN-TI
Sophie Piepenburg achieved a particularly impressive success. In the Traditional Karate Kata competition for eleven- to twelve-year-olds, she scored 29.89 points in both the preliminary round and the final, winning bronze.
According to the martial arts school, this is SAN-TI's first World Championship medal in this forms discipline. Besides technical execution, precision, body control, and concentration are crucial in Traditional Karate Kata.
Din Pullmann won three bronze medals in the 15- to 17-year-old category. He achieved third place in point fighting up to 65 kilograms, as well as in karate kumite up to 65 and up to 70 kilograms.
Ipell Inglese competed in the Traditional Karate Kata for 15- to 17-year-olds and achieved seventh place with 29.82 points.
Three athletes selected for German teams
Additional recognition went to Noah Pullmann, Din Pullmann, and Jernellio Inglese. The three SAN-TI athletes were selected for the German teams in the team competitions during the World Championships.
Noah Pullmann competed in the Kids' Karate Kumite, Din Pullmann in the Teens' Pointfighting, and Jernellio Inglese in the Juniors' Pointfighting. All three won their respective team matches.
Pullmann and his team finished in second place, winning the silver medal. Inglese and his team won bronze.
Successful youth development in several disciplines
With a total of 14 medals from six competitors, the results for the martial arts school from Darmstadt-Eberstadt were correspondingly successful. In addition to the three world championship titles in Karate Kumite, SAN-TI considers the first world championship medal in Traditional Karate Kata a particularly important step.
The successes in point fighting and the selection of three athletes for the German team competitions also demonstrate, according to the martial arts school, the sporting development across several competition disciplines.
