SV Darmstadt 98 lost their home game against Hannover 96 0-1 (0-0). The Lilies had to play with ten men from the 20th minute onwards after Aleksandar Vukotic received a red card. Despite the early setback, Florian Kohfeldt's team remained competitive for much of the game and even had the better chances in the first half.
After the break, Hannover increased the pressure and pushed the game increasingly into Darmstadt's half. The match was ultimately decided from the penalty spot: Following a handball by Daniël Duijvestijn and a review of the incident by the video assistant referee, referee Timo Gerach awarded a penalty. Lars Gindorf converted in the 57th minute to give the visitors the lead.
In the final stages, Hannover increasingly exploited their numerical advantage for further scoring opportunities, but were repeatedly thwarted by Marcel Schuhen. Darmstadt battled until the end, but could not prevent the defeat. Despite an improved structure and a step up compared to previous matches, SV 98 thus left the Böllenfalltor empty-handed.
