The program for 10- to 14-year-olds starts on September 7th
The youth club at the Vivarium Zoo in Darmstadt starts its new club year on Monday, September 7, 2026. The program is aimed at children and teenagers between 10 and 14 years old who are interested in animals and the work done in a zoo. The first meeting will take place at 2:30 p.m. in the zoo school.
In the youth club, participants gain insights into the daily life of the zoo and, in particular, into the work of the zookeepers. A special focus is placed on the animals in the petting zoo.
Animal care and enrichment
The children and teenagers can, for example, help with the care of the sheep and goats. They also create enrichment activities and "toys" for the animals, thereby learning more about their needs.
Participation in the youth club is based on the school year. Meetings take place twice a month. The cost for a year of youth club membership is a one-time fee of 100 euros.
The zoo education department accepts registrations via email at zoo-paedagogik@darmstadt.de .
