Suspense until the final stages: SV Darmstadt 98 won their home match against Eintracht Braunschweig 2-1 (0-1). After the visitors took the lead in the first half, the Lilies turned the game around after the break and celebrated a hard-fought home victory.
Both teams struggled in the opening stages, with clear chances initially scarce. In the 22nd minute, Braunschweig capitalized on one of their few opportunities: Aydin's long-range shot was deflected and landed unluckily in the net, leaving goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen looking unhappy. Darmstadt had to wait until after the break to find their way into the game.
With the restart, the Lilies noticeably picked up the pace. Their attacks now appeared more decisive, and in the 62nd minute, they deservedly equalized: After a cross from Luca Marseiler, Hornby missed the ball, but inadvertently passed it to Isaac Lidberg, who slotted it home from close range to make it 1-1.
The match remained tightly contested until the final whistle fell five minutes before the final whistle. Lidberg found himself unmarked after a long ball, but Köhler brought him down with a quick stop, resulting in a red card. Substitute Matej Maglica converted the resulting free kick into the corner in the 86th minute to score the much-celebrated winner.
The Lilies secured important points in their relegation battle and celebrated an emotional victory in front of their home crowd. The best moments and emotions from the game are captured in our photo gallery .
