African dwarf antelopes and dwarf hamsters can now be seen at the zoo
The weekend is just around the corner, and the weather forecast promises plenty of sunshine and mild temperatures. So why not plan a trip to the Vivarium ? As the city of Darmstadt announced in a press release, there are some new animal arrivals to admire: African dwarf antelopes and Djungarian hamsters.
Sunshine and animal surprises
With temperatures reaching 10°C and sunny weather, a stroll through the zoo is highly recommended. The new residents, also known as "dik-diks," are fascinating little antelopes that have settled in well. Initially somewhat shy, they now regularly appear in their enclosure near the parrot house.
Dzungarian hamsters originate from the steppe regions of Kazakhstan and Siberia. Although small, they are extremely active and can be observed in the wading bird hall. These adorable rodents have excellent hearing, even if their eyesight isn't particularly good – a fascinating experience for visitors of all ages.
An experience even in bad weather
If the weather forecast doesn't quite live up to its promise, the vivarium also offers fascinating insights indoors. Tropical animals, aquariums, and terrariums invite you on a journey of discovery – regardless of the weather.
For a successful weekend trip, the Vivarium is the perfect choice! Further information is available on the official website of the city of Darmstadt or directly on site.
