A statewide meeting strengthens the network of volunteer integration guides
The WIR integration guides from the city of Weiterstadt participated in a statewide networking meeting in Frankfurt. The event, held on September 26, 2026, focused on the volunteer work of more than 1,200 WIR guides across Hesse. The main topics were the exchange of experiences, current challenges, and the further development of integration work.
The integration guides from Weiterstadt and their coordinator Doris Morhard also took the opportunity to exchange ideas with other committed individuals and to gain new inspiration for their work on site.
Volunteers promote encounters and integration
The WIR integration guides in Weiterstadt support the coexistence of people from different backgrounds. They promote encounters, facilitate exchange, and contribute to building mutual understanding.
Their voluntary work is intended to strengthen social participation and cohesion. This involves not only supporting individuals, but also creating connections between different population groups.
Exchange about challenges and perspectives
The nationwide meeting in Frankfurt offered integration guides and coordinators the opportunity to share experiences from their daily work.
Discussions focused on current challenges in the various projects as well as opportunities to further develop collaboration in the future.
An important goal of the event was to strengthen existing networks and develop common perspectives for future integration work.
Integration Minister Heike Hofmann is a guest
Among the guests at the networking meeting was Hesse's Minister for Labour, Integration, Youth and Social Affairs, Heike Hofmann.
Their participation offered the volunteers an opportunity to speak with the minister about the importance of their work, as well as current challenges and future developments of the WIR-Lotsen projects.
The Weiterstadt guides and their coordinator Doris Morhard also welcomed the opportunity for personal exchange.
