On October 3rd and 4th, guests can experience how cider and later apple wine are made from several tons of apples
At the Griesheim Local History Museum, everything will revolve around apples, cider, and apple wine on October 3rd and 4th, 2026. Between eight and nine tons of apples will be processed during the traditional cider pressing at the museum . Visitors can follow the journey from apple to freshly pressed cider.
The delivered apples are first washed and crushed before being pressed. The resulting cider is then transferred to barrels. Some can be tasted on site or taken home. The remaining cider is used to make Griesheim apple wine, which is stored in the museum cellar until the next season.
Winemaking in the museum is also for children
Children can also get actively involved during the cider-making weekend. During the children's cider-making event, they experience how juice is made from apples.
The museum shop also offers regional and homemade specialties, including Latwäije (a type of sweet bread). Food and drinks are provided by the museum kitchen.
