The family center invites you to an exchange about breastfeeding on October 2nd
To mark World Breastfeeding Week, the Darmstadt Family Center is offering a free breastfeeding café on Friday, October 2nd. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., expectant parents, breastfeeding mothers, and anyone interested can meet at Frankfurter Straße 71 to discuss questions and share experiences related to breastfeeding. Registration is not required.
“It is important that expectant parents have the opportunity to calmly explore the topic of breastfeeding during pregnancy. This allows them to gather information, ask questions, and find out what is right for them and their family,” explains Mayor Barbara Akdeniz on the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week.
Exchange about questions and experiences
The breastfeeding café is led by lactation consultant Janine Busch. The focus is on both the joys and challenges of breastfeeding. Individual topics such as nighttime breastfeeding, sore nipples, or balancing breastfeeding with returning to work can be discussed.
This event is not exclusively for breastfeeding parents. Pregnant women and those who have stopped breastfeeding are also welcome to participate and share their questions and experiences. The breastfeeding café is held regularly about every two weeks. Participation on October 2nd is free of charge, and registration is not required.
World Breastfeeding Week has been observed since 1991 and is considered the largest global campaign week by organizations promoting breastfeeding. Its aim is to raise awareness about the potential positive effects of breastfeeding and to remove obstacles.
