Public Evensong with Circlesinging on Saturday, September 27th, at 6 pm
More than 100 young people will meet on Saturday, September 27th, at St. Paul's Church in Darmstadt for the Protestant Church's Youth Choir Day . Under the motto "Life is a circle," the Protestant Church is inviting young people from all over Germany to this special event.
Singing in a circle as a new experience
From 12 pm to 7 pm, young people aged eleven and up will form a large choir and learn about circle singing – an improvisational form of singing in which short motifs are repeated by individual groups within the choir. The day concludes at 6 pm with a public Evensong featuring circle singing at St. Paul's Church (Niebergallweg 20).
Nationwide project with prominent choir director
The Youth Choir Day is part of a nationwide project taking place simultaneously in six cities – Leipzig, Munich, Hamburg, Stendal, Iserlohn and Darmstadt.
- The leadership in Darmstadt will be taken over by Ursula Starke (Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau) and Anne Langenbach (Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck).
- Also present are Christian Roß, the Darmstadt city church cantor , whose singing school sends many young people to the choir day, and Manuel Dahme, the Frankfurt cantor .
- The Circlesinging is led by the Frankfurt music educator Alexandra Ziegler-Liebst .
The organizers of the Youth Choir Day are the Choir Association in the Evangelical Church of Germany and the Association of Evangelical Choirs in Hesse and Nassau .
