Young people actively shape their city - participation at the center of the meeting
The youth center council of the Blue Box recently met with Mayor Gefa Krebs-Wetzl to talk about the needs and ideas of young people in Griesheim. Eight elected representatives from the various meeting groups of the youth center brought about concerns that go beyond the Blue Box and affect city life.
The focus of the meeting was on how young people could actively help shape the development of their city. Among other things, the desire for a basketball and soccercage , more leisure options , a return lettering box at the city library , a better connection of the Blue Box to public transport and more diversity in retail in the city center were discussed.
"There are simply too many bakers and similar shops. We want more variety," said Alexandra Becker , accommodation spokeswoman of the girl*meeting.
City takes wishes seriously
Mayor Verfa Krebs-Wetzl was impressed by the commitment of the young people:
"It is great to see how constructive and specifically the young people formulate their wishes. We take these suggestions very seriously and will check to what extent we can implement them."
Hannah Hager also emphasized the importance of participation from the urban youth promotion:
"Participation is the key to designing our city in a child and youth-friendly manner."
Anouk Kaltenbach took from the Citizens' Participation coordination office . She emphasized:
"Children and young people are the future of our society. We have to take their concerns seriously and show them that they can help shape our Griesheim."
Youth Councilor: Co -determination directly on site
The youth center council is the central participation committee of the Griesheim youth promotion. The Blue Box offers five different meetings for different target groups, including a youth club from class 7 and a girls' gathering. Each meeting is represented by selected speakers in the council. Once in the quarter, the eight members currently come together with the full -time employees of youth promotion to discuss and implement suggestions and ideas.
"We want the Blue Box to be a place where everyone can feel good and get their ideas," said Marlene Witt , accommodation spokeswoman for the youth club.
The next meeting of the Youth Center Council is already being planned. Until then, the young people collect further suggestions from their groups and prepare new projects. One thing is clear: the youth in Griesheim mixes - and the Blue Box remains a central place for encounter, participation and design.
