The full-back moves from Arminia Bielefeld to SV Darmstadt 98
SV Darmstadt 98 have made another move in the transfer market, Christopher Lannert . The 28-year-old full-back joins the Lilies from Arminia Bielefeld and will wear the number 28 jersey in Darmstadt.
Sporting director Paul Fernie described Lannert as a desired signing: "Christopher has been on our radar for some time, and we're delighted that the signing has come to fruition. He's a dynamic and energetic player who can generate attacking pressure. We've always emphasized that we need a good balance between young players and experience, and we also wanted to maintain the core of German talent in the squad. Christopher knows German football and was vice-captain in Bielefeld for a reason. His profile fits perfectly into our plans."
Lannert is also looking forward to his new role: "After three years in Bielefeld, I'm really excited about joining Darmstadt, whom I followed closely, especially last season. I quickly felt that my playing style and personality fit in very well with the team's philosophy and the entire club. The upcoming training camp will certainly help me with the integration process and internalizing the team's routines."
The Munich native was trained in the youth academies of FC Bayern Munich and FC Augsburg. He made a total of 84 appearances for FC Augsburg's reserve team in the Regionalliga (fourth tier) between 2017 and 2020. His career then took him via SC Verl and TSV 1860 Munich to Arminia Bielefeld.
Lannert celebrated promotion to the 2. Bundesliga with the East Westphalian club and made a total of 118 competitive appearances. Last season in the second division, the right-back played 28 matches for Arminia.
With the signing of Christopher Lannert, the Lilies further strengthen their defense and continue their personnel restructuring for the upcoming season.
