Around 30 citizens took advantage of the opportunity to exchange ideas with Mayor Niklas Gehnich
At a community meeting in Schneppenhausen, around 30 residents took the opportunity to discuss their concerns and ideas directly with Mayor Niklas Gehnich. The event, held at the Agora restaurant, provided an open and engaging setting for addressing numerous topics currently affecting this district of Weiterstadt.
One focus of the discussion was the traffic situation in Schneppenhausen. Several participants raised concerns about parking and excessive speeds within the town.
The condition of the so-called "retirement home" was also discussed. It had been vandalized a few weeks ago. The city of Weiterstadt intends to take note of the information and monitor the situation.
The desire for local suppliers remains a major issue
Another key concern was local amenities in the district. Many residents still want a place to shop locally. It was also suggested that an additional distribution point for yellow recycling bags be established in Schneppenhausen. This proposal is currently being reviewed by the city administration.
Participants also expressed concerns regarding the Mühlbach stream, which is increasingly drying up. The city of Weiterstadt intends to forward this information to the Schwarzbachgebiet-Ried water association.
“Direct communication with citizens is particularly important to me. Feedback from the city districts helps us to identify challenges early on and to work together to find practical solutions. Even if not everything can be implemented immediately, we take these concerns seriously and address them,” emphasized Mayor Niklas Gehnich.
The next citizens' meeting will take place after the summer break on Tuesday, August 26th, at the Riedbahn. Citizens will once again have the opportunity to raise concerns and ideas there.
