The municipality is calling for the greening of balconies and window sills
Nauheim is participating in the district-wide campaign “Climate balconies – wanted” and is calling on citizens to design balconies, roof terraces or window sills in a natural way.
More green spaces for climate and biodiversity
A so-called climate balcony relies on native, insect-friendly plants, herbs, wildflowers, or vegetables. The aim of the initiative is to create habitats for bees, butterflies, and other insects while simultaneously improving the microclimate in residential areas.
The municipality provides information about the campaign on its website and hopes to motivate as many people as possible to participate.
Information stand with free wildflower seeds
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, climate manager Julian Pfeffer will be providing information about the project at an information booth in the Nauheim community hall from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Free wildflower seeds will also be distributed there.
The information booth will take place alongside the repair and digital café in order to reach as many interested people as possible.
Photo competition in the district of Groß-Gerau
In addition, there is a district-wide photo competition. Residents of the Groß-Gerau district can submit photos of their climate-friendly balcony by email to klima@kreisgg.de .
Prizes include vouchers worth 150, 100 and 50 euros.
