Children and young people present a series of scenes in public spaces
The Darmstadt School Theatre Days 2026 will take place from June 20th to 24th. To kick things off, children and young people will bring Darmstadt's city center to life in a special way on Saturday, June 20th. The Darmstadt State Theatre and the Moller House Theatre invite everyone to the festival's opening with a scenic walking tour through the city center.
Between 12:30 and 2 pm, students from Darmstadt and the surrounding region will present short excerpts from their theater productions at various locations. The aim is to bring theater directly into the public sphere and to facilitate encounters between young theater makers and the local community.
Theatre in unusual places
The performances will take place at several central locations in Darmstadt's city center. Visitors can experience different productions and gain insight into the diversity of school theater work.
In the forecourt of the State Theatre, the dance class of the Erich Kästner School will perform the piece "Im Puls" (In Pulse). At the Alice Monument, the "SeeMe" theatre group from the Erich Kästner School and the Victoria School will present "Die angerischen Putzkräfte" (The Angry Cleaning Staff).
Other stops include the entrance of the Luisencenter on Adelungenstraße with "Risk it!" by the theater workshop of the Erich Kästner School, the Luisenplatz with "Parole Emil" by the theater group of the Oswald-von-Nell-Breuning School, the Carree-Platz in front of the Centralstation with "Das Mädchen ohne Kräfte" by the theater group of the Eleonorenschule, and the Ludwigsplatz with "Die Welle" by the Alfred-Delp-School.
Performances until June 24th
The full productions will be shown during the school theatre days at the Moller House Theatre and in the chamber theatre of the Darmstadt State Theatre.
The festival gives children and young people the opportunity to present their creative work to a wide audience. At the same time, the series of events highlights the issues that concern young people and the diversity of school theatre work today.
Further information about the program can be found on the website of the Theater Moller Haus and in the program booklet of the Darmstadt School Theatre Days.
