Girls' Fun Day and Boys' Day offer free sports and exercise activities for children aged 8 to 14 on October 5th and 6th
Children in Darmstadt are kicking off their autumn holidays with two activity days. At Girls' Fun Day on Monday, October 5th, and Boys' Fun Day on Tuesday, October 6th, girls and boys aged eight to 14 can try out different sports and physical activities. Both events are free of charge, and registration is not required. (City of Science Darmstadt)
The action days will take place from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm in the sports hall of the vocational school center North at Alsfelder Straße 29.
From Vovinam to wheelchair basketball
The Girls* Fun Day, themed "Together – Sporty – Awesome," features a variety of workshops. Participants can try out activities such as Ultimate Frisbee, the Vietnamese martial art Vovinam, and cheerleading. No prior athletic experience is necessary. The event is organized by the Children and Youth Services of the City of Darmstadt, the "Sport, Exercise, Nutrition" program of Netzwerk ROPE eV, and the Darmstadt-Dieburg Sports Association Youth.
The following day, Boys' Day includes wheelchair basketball, a household obstacle course, cooperative games, and boxing training. Boys' Day has been organized since 2004 by the "Boys' Work" working group, a collaboration of professionals from the child and youth services of the city of Darmstadt, the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district youth sports association.
Participation without registration
For both days of the event, please bring indoor shoes with light-colored soles and athletic clothing. A vegetarian meal and drinks will be provided free of charge. Further information is available from the Children and Youth Services department at kijufoe@darmstadt.de.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz described the two events as an integral part of the autumn holidays and emphasized in particular exercise and community as goals of the action days.
