Nominations can be submitted from August 18th to 31st – the election will take place in October and November by postal vote
for the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council election in Griesheim . Residents aged 60 and over can submit nominations for the next four-year term between August 18 and 31, 2026. The actual election will take place between October 9 and November 6, 2026.
Nominations must be submitted in writing to the City Council – Senior Citizens' Office no later than Monday, August 31, at 12:30 p.m. The city recommends submitting the documents well in advance. A nomination will only be accepted if all required documents are submitted correctly and on time.
Official forms are available at the Senior Citizens' Office at Leuschnerpark 4, Entrance B, fourth floor, and at the main office in the town hall. They can also be downloaded from the city's website.
Who is eligible to run for election to the Senior Citizens' Advisory Board in Griesheim
Residents who have reached the age of 60 on the last election day and have been registered with their main residence in Griesheim for at least six weeks can submit a nomination.
Anyone wishing to learn more about the work and goals of the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council can do so at the council's stand during the community festival in the Wagenhalle on Saturday, August 15th. Information is also available via email at seniorenbeirat@griesheim.de.
The election will be conducted exclusively by postal vote
Residents who are at least 60 years old on the last election day and have been registered with their primary residence in Griesheim for at least six weeks are also eligible to vote. Registration in the electoral register is a prerequisite for receiving the voter notification. The deadline for registration is August 29, 2026.
The election for the Senior Citizens' Advisory Council in Griesheim will be conducted entirely by postal ballot. From October 9th to November 6th, eligible voters can request their voting materials after receiving their voter notification or cast their vote directly at the town hall. A maximum of 15 votes are available, with only one vote allowed per candidate. Elections are decided by a simple majority vote.
The Senior Citizens' Advisory Council represents the interests of residents over 60 and provides advice on matters affecting older people. The council can, among other things, submit statements, proposals, motions, and inquiries to committees and the city council. It consists of a maximum of 15 members and is elected for a four-year term.
