Regional producers present their products – music, dance and activities for children accompany the Harvest Festival Sunday
The 26th annual farmers' market drew numerous visitors to downtown Groß-Gerau on Sunday, October 4th. Regional producers presented their products in the market square. Simultaneously, shops in the city center were open for Sunday shopping.
Following the harvest festival service in the town church, the farmers' market was officially opened at 11 a.m. District Administrator Thomas Will, Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau, Horst Müller from the Starkenburg Regional Farmers' Association, and Christina Friedrich, the new chairwoman of the Groß-Gerau District Rural Women's Association, welcomed the visitors.
Regional direct marketers in focus
“We want to strengthen regional direct marketers and give them the opportunity to showcase their products at the farmers' market,” said District Administrator Thomas Will. Among the offerings were local fruits and vegetables, sausage and fish products, flowers, and honey. The District Administrator was later available for discussions at the joint stand of the district and the regional farmers' association.
In addition to the vendor stalls, there was a music and entertainment program. The FC Germania 07 Leeheim marching band, the Hessenschnicker folk dance group, and the TSG Worfelden brass band performed. Activities for children included pony rides and duck fishing.
