A hiking group experiences nature, music and special sound experiences in the Odenwald
The members of the Odenwald Club Groß-Gerau experienced a unique hike on the Hammelbach Sound Trail in the Odenwald forest. In sunny weather, 42 hiking enthusiasts set out on the approximately six- or eight-kilometer-long route and discovered numerous sound installations amidst nature.
Starting point: Weschnitz spring
The hike started in Hammelbach. From there, the route led first to the source of the Weschnitz River with its idyllic pond. After a short rest and refreshments, the exploration of the varied sound trail through woods and fields began.
Numerous stations along the route offered extraordinary sound experiences. Some hikers tried their hand at xylophones and glockenspiels, while others listened to the sounds created by the wind.
Wind harp and humming stone delight the hiking group
The group was particularly impressed by the so-called "cherry bells," which are installed in a tree and set in motion by the wind. Another highlight of the hike was the large Lion wind harp, whose numerous steel strings produce fascinating sounds.
The humming stone also generated enthusiasm and invited the participants to try it out.
Stop for refreshments and return journey through the Odenwald landscape
After visiting the various sound stations, the hiking group stopped at the Alt-Lechtern forest inn. The return route then led past undulating fields of grain back to Hammelbach.
The hiking guides Reiner Dietz, Andreas Grund and Reinhard Roth had prepared a varied tour for the OWK members, combining nature experiences and unusual soundscapes.
Experience nature with all your senses
The Hammelbach Sound Trail combines physical activity in nature with acoustic experiences and invites visitors to discover the Odenwald region in a unique way. For the participants of the Groß-Gerau Odenwald Club, the hike was particularly memorable because of the many new sound impressions.
