The artist is donating four works from his collection to the city
The city of Darmstadt has received four paintings by the artist Klaus Feuchtinger as a donation. The works were presented at the art depot on Mainzer Straße.
The works will go to the municipal art collection
The donation is being managed by the Mathildenhöhe Institute in Darmstadt. Mayor and Head of Cultural Affairs Hanno Benz presented the works together with Cultural Officer Dr. Philipp Gutbrod and the artist.
Benz praised the donation as a sign of Feuchtinger's connection to Darmstadt and as a contribution to the promotion of the city's cultural landscape.
Four works from the series "In the Time of Cholera"
The donation includes three paintings from the series "In the Time of Cholera", created in 2012:
- "Storm warning"
- "Peace"
- “Plague flag”
In addition, there is the work "Iceberg in Tow".
The title of the series refers to the novel Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez.
Long-standing connection to Darmstadt
Klaus Feuchtinger was, among other things, a Darmstadt city councilor and, from 2003 to 2009, the city's environmental affairs officer. Together with his wife, he also managed the former Eberstadt gallery TRIGON.
On the occasion of his move to Essen, Feuchtinger decided to donate the four works to the science city of Darmstadt.
