Swedish vocal group performs at Agora-Kultur at Ostbahnhof
The Swedish vocal group Kongero will perform at Agora-Kultur near Darmstadt's Ostbahnhof on July 30th. The quartet combines traditional Nordic folk music with multi-part a cappella singing and presents a program that the singers themselves describe as "Swedish Folk'appella".
Kongero was founded in 2005 when its members first sang together at a Nordic folk music conference. From this spontaneous collaboration, a permanent ensemble developed, which has since performed at numerous folk, a cappella, and chamber music festivals. Concert tours have taken the group throughout Europe, Asia, and America.
The ensemble includes Lotta Andersson, Emma Björling, Sofia Hultqvist Kott, and Anna Wikénius. Their repertoire comprises traditional songs and melodies, arranged by the singers themselves. Thematically, the pieces range from love songs and medieval ballads to humorous songs and danceable tunes.
Kongero is characterized by tight harmonies, rhythmic arrangements, and clear vocals. The group blends traditional Swedish music with modern interpretations, creating a distinctive sound that bridges past and present.
