Darmstadt. entitled "Connected" on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Evangelical St. Matthew's Church (Heimstättenweg 77). Together with her father, Murat Kaplan, and the Syrian Orthodox monk Schemun, she will present a spiritual evening with Aramaic prayers, healing songs, and personal stories.
This evening invites you to experience the ancient sound tradition of the Aramaic language—a language that has resonated, remembered, healed, and deeply touched throughout space and time for millennia. The event is organized by the Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue in the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt, led by Pastor Ilka Friedrich.
Maria Kaplan, who also offers workshops and seminars, was introduced to Aramaic chanting by her father at an early age. A pivotal encounter with the monk Shemun from Jerusalem strengthened her resolve to live her calling and share the healing power of this music.
Admission is free, donations are welcome. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
