Spiritual evening with Aramaic songs in St. Matthew's Church on August 17th
Darmstadt. Under the title "Connected," the Aramaic singer Maria Kaplan will give a special concert on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Evangelical St. Matthew's Church (Heimstättenweg 77). Together with her father, Murat Kaplan, and the Syriac Orthodox monk Shemun, she will create a spiritual evening with Aramaic prayers, healing songs, and personal stories.
The evening invites you to experience the ancient sound tradition of the Aramaic language – a language that has resonated across space and time for millennia, reminding, healing, and deeply touching. The event is organized by the Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue in the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt, headed by Pastor Ilka Friedrich.
Maria Kaplan, who also offers workshops and seminars, was introduced to Aramaic singing by her father from a young age. A pivotal encounter with the monk Shemun from Jerusalem strengthened her resolve to live her calling and share the healing power of this music.
Admission is free, donations are welcome. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
