47 participants cover 70 kilometers during a week in the mountains
For a week, the Odenwald Club Groß-Gerau, with 47 hikers, explored the Tannheim Valley. On various tours, the group explored the Tyrolean mountains, covering a total of approximately 70 kilometers and 3,460 meters of elevation gain on foot.
On the day of their arrival, the participants got their first impression of Tannheim and the surrounding mountains during a walking tour. One of the first longer hikes led past the Lourdes Chapel to Lake Vilsalpsee. After a rest at the Vilsalpe alpine pasture, the group hiked around the lake. In the evening, some participants attended the local brass band's farewell concert to mark the end of the season.
From Füssener Jöchle to Sebenalpe
Even changeable weather didn't deter the residents of Groß-Gerau from hiking. On a rainy day, shorter tours to the local history museum and the plague chapel in Kienzen, and later to the neighboring village of Grän, were on the agenda.
A more challenging tour began with a gondola ride up to the Füssener Jöchle at 1,821 meters. From there, the trail led over the Gamskopf at 1,890 meters down to the Sebenalpe. Due to the recent rain, some of the rocks were smooth and slippery. Dense fog later hampered visibility on the return hike to the Sonnenalm. A smaller group also ventured the ascent to the Bad Kissinger Hütte.
Several tours for different groups
Another hike led to the Edenbachalm, situated at around 1,400 meters. Part of the group then took the cable car to the Neunerköpfle and enjoyed the view from the mountain station. Other participants opted for a hike around the Haldensee.
Another tour took participants up to an altitude of 1,570 meters using the Wannenjoch cable car. After an additional ascent, the group descended via the Stuibensattel pass to Zipfelsalp. Around 40 paragliders in the sky provided a spectacular sight. Other participants used the day to visit Grän and witnessed a cattle drive with cows, goats, horses, and donkeys.
Finish on the Neunerköpfle
The last hike together led to the 1,864-meter-high Neunerköpfle. After the ascent from the mountain station to the summit cross, a challenging mountain path led to the Usseralm. From there, a forest road led back down.
In closing, Reinhard Roth and Reiner Dietz thanked Heinz Pitzer and Rosel Wolk with gifts for organizing and conducting the hiking week. After a total of approximately 70 kilometers and 3,460 meters of elevation gain, the group began their journey home the following morning.
